Carved Wood Quilt

The previous posting about a wood quilt square Gnome, mentioned a wood quilt. This is the type of a wood quilt that I was referring to. Each of the squares measures 5" x 5" x 1/2 inch thick. Once the wood squares are carved, they are assembled with a lattice and framed. Our carving group at the senior center regularly makes these for display and to raffle off for the center. I failed to get a photo of the "quilt" with the Gnome that I carved. Which is really stupid because I am the one that makes the frame and assembles the individual squares.

Gnome On A Frame

Since I like to whittle and quilt, I can combine the two. The framed log cabin pattern quilt square matted and framed in old wood. The old wood frame includes a Gnome sitting on a log.

Arts Festival

This weekend is a very good arts festival in town. There will be 170 "artists" set up. This is a juried event so most of the participants will have very nice items to sell. I have done this festival for four years now. This year I am introducing my Gnomes. In preparation for this festival I have been whittling my fingers to the bone. That's just a figure of speech, not to be taken literally. I have three sizes of Gnomes, 1 inch, 2 inch, and 3 inch. Along with each sale will be the instructions to place your Gnome into scenes and send in a photo. I'll preview and select photos to post on this site.

In addition to the Gnomes I'll have Noah's Arks, Santa tree ornaments, Santa pins, and whittlings for kids.

Valentine Gnome

This is a small Valentine Gnome that I carved for my Valentine. The large heart box contained all the little hearts. The Gnome is about 2 inches tall.
